Monthly Same-Store Sales Summary – January 2011
Abercrombie reported an increase of 5.7% in net sales for January, while same-store sales declined 4% compared to an 8% increase in the year ago period. Results by segment were: Abercrombie & Fitch +3%, abercrombie -11%, and Hollister -8%, while the direct-to-consumer segment posted a 23% increase in net merchandise sales from from last January. For the month, domestic sales were down 1% while international sales increased by 42%. For the full fiscal year 2010, total sales increased 18% to $3.47 billion and same-store sales rose 7%, while e-commerce jumped 41% to $352.5 million. The company announced that it will discontinue reporting sales on a monthly basis after January 2011.
